The verbal sparring between the Pastef and Kiiraay factions shows no signs of abating. Without a referee to call time on the ongoing tit-for-tat exchanges, each camp continues to dredge up fresh allegations, each asserting their version of events as unassailable truth.

Dr Abdourahmane Diouf, speaking on a Senegalese television program hosted by Migui Marième Ndiaye, recently revisited the controversial issue of the 1.77 billion CFA francs in discretionary funds that Ousmane Sonko held during his time as Prime Minister. But the Petroleum and Energy Minister didn’t stop there.

The minister went on to allege that once the initial allocation was exhausted, Sonko sought an additional injection of funds. Yet critical questions remain unanswered: was the request ever granted? And more pressingly, where did this sensitive information originate? If accurate, it could only have come from two possible sources—the President of the Republic or the Budget Minister.

The revelation has only deepened the rift between the opposing camps, with each faction now scrambling to control the narrative. As the political fallout intensifies, the public is left grappling with a growing cloud of uncertainty over the legitimacy and handling of these political funds.
