President Wadagni initiates major administrative overhaul in Benin
President Romuald Wadagni has launched a significant institutional offensive, embarking on a comprehensive reorganization of Benin’s public administration. This sweeping reform includes the dissolution of several strategic agencies, many of which were established under the previous administration of Patrice Talon.

This wave of dissolutions, significantly impacting the culture and tourism sectors, reflects a broader objective to streamline state entities. It signals the beginning of a clear strategy aimed at imprinting a new direction on governmental action in Benin.
Upon assuming the highest office, the new occupant of La Marina Palace prioritized redefining the mechanisms for implementing public policy by eliminating various agencies. Among the dissolved entities are the Agence de développement des arts et de la culture (Adac), Agence Bénin Tourisme, and the Agence nationale de promotion des patrimoines et de développement du tourisme (Anpt). The latter had previously served as the state’s primary operational arm for positioning Benin as a leading tourist destination.
The overarching ambition behind this extensive restructuring is to halt the fragmentation of resources and enhance the efficiency of national administrative organization. While the presidential decree establishes the foundation for more concentrated governance, the specific procedures for transferring the responsibilities of these defunct agencies, as well as the future of their respective personnel, await further clarification from the relevant authorities.
By undertaking this decisive political action within the initial months of his term, Romuald Wadagni sets a firm tone for his governance, demonstrating a strong resolve to rationalize and optimize the state apparatus in Benin.
