N’Djamena – World Vision Tchad has officially unveiled its ambitious national strategy for 2026-2030, designed to transform the lives of 3.29 million children across the country. The launch event, held on July 9, 2026, brought together media representatives, technical and financial partners, as well as national authorities at the N’Djamena Résidence Hotel.
A holistic approach to child development
The strategy prioritizes an integrated approach combining humanitarian aid, sustainable development, and peacebuilding efforts. Its primary goal is to reach 3.29 million children by 2030, including 3.09 million of the most vulnerable, through targeted interventions in health, nutrition, education, child protection, and climate resilience.
During the conference, Carla Dominique Denizard, World Vision’s Regional Director for West Africa based in Dakar, emphasized the strategy’s innovative nature. She described it as a ‘bold leap forward’ built on the Humanitarian-Development-Peace Nexus framework, which bridges emergency response with long-term development and peace consolidation. ‘Every child in Chad deserves to thrive, not just survive,’ she stated, highlighting the importance of strong partnerships, community mobilization, and cultural sensitivity in achieving these goals.
Denizard also noted that the West and Central Africa region faces significant challenges, including insecurity, multidimensional poverty, climate change impacts, and mass population displacements. World Vision’s integrated approach addresses these issues by combining immediate humanitarian assistance with sustainable development initiatives and peacebuilding measures.
Alignment with national and global objectives
The strategy aligns with Chad’s Vision 2030 and several international frameworks, including the African Union’s Agenda 2063 and the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 13, and 16). Key focus areas include human capital development, social protection, climate adaptation, literacy enhancement through the Unlock Literacy program, and comprehensive child protection measures.
National leadership commits to transformation
Édouard Ngoy Wangoy, National Director of World Vision Tchad, called the strategy launch a ‘historic moment’ for both the organization and the future of Chadian children. He revealed that the new roadmap represents a 20% increase in ambition compared to the previous cycle, with a clear mission: ‘We aim for every child in Chad to not just survive but thrive.’
Ngoy Wangoy pointed out the persistent challenges Chad faces, including entrenched poverty, malnutrition, recurring humanitarian crises, and climate change effects. With nearly 42% of the population living below the poverty line, he stressed the urgent need for intensified support to vulnerable communities.
The strategy’s core pillars include integrated nutrition and health programs with a special focus on maternal and child health, educational improvements through the Unlock Literacy initiative to boost early reading skills, comprehensive child protection against all forms of violence, and community resilience-building against climate impacts.
A call for unified action
Following the presentation, World Vision Tchad’s leadership urged national stakeholders to join forces in implementing the strategy. They called on public authorities, technical and financial partners, civil society organizations, religious and community leaders, and media representatives to collaborate closely. ‘Collective mobilization is essential to turn current challenges into sustainable opportunities for Chadian children,’ they emphasized. Through this ambitious 2026-2030 strategy, World Vision Tchad aims to contribute significantly to achieving the country’s Vision 2030 and the Sustainable Development Goals, envisioning a future where every child is protected, well-nourished, educated, and empowered to reach their full potential.
