Niamey, July 27, 2026 — High-level consultations within the Alliance of Sahel States (AES) are intensifying alongside celebrations marking the third anniversary of the National Council for the Safeguard of the Homeland (CNSP) taking power. Today, General Mohamed Toumba, Niger’s Minister of State for Interior, Public Security, and Territorial Administration, welcomed Bassolma Bazié, Burkina Faso’s president of the AES National Commission, for a strategic meeting.
Bazié, in Niger for the commemorative events, made a courtesy visit to the Ministry of Interior where the two leaders discussed pressing issues facing AES member states. Their dialogue centered on reinforcing shared security priorities and deepening institutional collaboration across the confederation.
Enhancing security cooperation across the AES confederation
During the meeting, Bazié commended Niger’s proactive security measures, highlighting initiatives to protect civilians and bolster stability both domestically and across the confederation.
