Prime Minister Rimtalba Jean Emmanuel Ouédraogo welcomed a delegation from the Interafrican Federation of Insurance Consultants (FIAC) on Tuesday, 9 June 2026. The delegation, led by interim President Vakaramoko Samaké, briefed the head of government on the stakes of the federation’s 16th annual general assembly, scheduled from 10 to 13 June 2026 in Ouagadougou.
Themed “The role of insurance brokerage in expanding access and improving the penetration rate,” this major event aims to position brokers as key players in financial inclusion.
The regional gathering will bring together nearly 200 insurance brokers from the 14 member countries of the CIMA zone (Interafrican Conference on Insurance Markets), as well as from Guinea Conakry and Ghana. After the audience, the interim FIAC president praised the Prime Minister’s personal commitment in agreeing to patronise the event.

“We showed him the importance of our profession. Today, insurance consultants contribute to the economic development of our countries and to job creation. This general assembly marks the beginning of the qualitative change we want to bring about. The theme of financial inclusion is a new start for supporting our populations through insurance consultants,” Samaké explained.
The Prime Minister, for his part, welcomed the choice of Burkina Faso’s capital to host this 16th edition. He sees it as “a mark of fraternity” toward the country.
“We have chosen a path that attracts a lot of demonisation and negative stereotypes. We remain serene because the country is advancing in all areas, as evidenced by macroeconomic indicators,” the Prime Minister stated.
He then emphasised the relevance of the theme, which lies at the heart of the government’s agenda. “Your role is important. Today, insurance is essential in all sectors. In rural areas, we now talk about climate insurance. This proves that risks are expanding and that our populations need minimum coverage,” he stressed.
Reaffirming the government’s will to make insurance brokerage a tool for resilience, the Prime Minister concluded: “Be assured of our readiness to work alongside you and to take into account the recommendations from your work. I invite you to unite and stay in tune with the developments of our time.”
With this audience, the government confirms its determination to make this sector a major player in Burkina Faso’s economic refoundation and resilience.
