Chad and Libya take steps toward direct air route between N’Djamena and Benghazi
Chad and Libya are deepening economic and consular ties with plans for a new direct air service linking N’Djamena and Benghazi, set to enhance cross-border connectivity.
During a high-level meeting in Benghazi on July 13, 2026, Libya’s Minister of Foreign Affairs, Dr. Abdelhadi Al-Houij, held discussions with Chad’s Consul General, Mr. Hassan Ahmat Daissire, and Mr. Aboubakar Sidick Mahamat Abagana, Consular Attaché. The talks centered on strengthening bilateral cooperation across consular services, trade, transportation, and communications.
A direct air link between N’Djamena and Benghazi emerged as a key priority to streamline travel and foster economic exchanges. The proposed route is expected to boost business opportunities and strengthen people-to-people ties between the two nations.
Additionally, the voluntary repatriation program for Chadian nationals was reviewed in partnership with international organizations and local authorities. Both sides reaffirmed their commitment to deepening historical and fraternal relations between Chad and Libya.
