Following his appointment in March 2024 and the formal presentation of his credentials to Tunisia’s President Kaïs Saïed on November 6, 2025, Gabon’s Ambassador to Tunisia, Pierre Ntsiet Ngolo, has outlined a clear diplomatic roadmap for deepening bilateral ties between Libreville and Tunis. With unwavering commitment, the seasoned diplomat pledges to strengthen friendship and cooperation while safeguarding the rights and well-being of Gabonese nationals residing in Tunisia.
The newly established Gabonese diplomatic and consular mission in Tunisia has already taken decisive steps to foster unity within the diaspora. Mirroring the initiatives of Gabonese expatriate communities worldwide, two new frameworks have been created to promote solidarity and collective action. These platforms serve as vital hubs for collaboration among the approximately 1,000 Gabonese citizens in Tunisia—students, interns, professionals, and families—united by shared values of mutual aid, equity, and fraternity.
One of these structures, the Gabonese Community Council in Tunisia (Conseil des Gabonais de Tunisie, C.G.T.), brings together the entire community under a charitable and humanitarian banner. The second, the Association of Gabonese Students and Interns in Tunisia (Association des Étudiants et Stagiaires Gabonais en Tunisie, A.E.S.G.T.), focuses specifically on the needs of the younger generation pursuing studies or training in the country.

Ambassador Pierre Ntsiet Ngolo highlights the tangible progress achieved in fostering unity and cohesion within the community. “The first edition of the Gabon Cultural Days, held on April 24 and 25, showcased the remarkable ability of our diaspora to come together around the values of solidarity and brotherhood,” he remarks with pride.
Strengthening bilateral cooperation
A key pillar of the Gabon-Tunisia relationship revolves around academic cooperation, with a significant number of Gabonese students and interns enrolled in Tunisian universities. However, navigating Tunisia’s immigration policies poses challenges, particularly for young students struggling to renew residence permits due to administrative hurdles, including delays in tuition fee payments.
“I urge families and the Gabonese National Scholarship Agency (ANBG) to take swift action to address these issues and alleviate the difficulties faced by our compatriots,” the Ambassador emphasizes. His call aims to ensure smoother administrative processes for Gabonese nationals in Tunisia, where immigration regulations can be stringent.
Healthcare cooperation also features prominently in the Ambassador’s agenda. A partnership between Gabon’s National Health Insurance Fund (CNAMGS) and Tunisian medical operators specializing in medical evacuations underscores the high standard of Tunisia’s healthcare system. This collaboration ensures Gabonese citizens receive top-tier medical care when needed.
“Our mission is twofold: to consolidate existing gains and forge new partnerships that align with the development ambitions of both nations,” Ntsiet Ngolo explains. “This involves intensifying dialogue with institutional partners and prioritizing economic diplomacy while exploring mutually beneficial opportunities in areas where both countries possess unique expertise.”
Economic diplomacy takes center stage

The Ambassador underscores the importance of economic ties, noting that Tunisian business delegations visiting Gabon signal promising opportunities for investment and partnership. “These engagements are expected to culminate in concrete agreements that foster shared prosperity and sustainable development,” he notes.
Since assuming his role, Ambassador Pierre Ntsiet Ngolo has prioritized consular assistance for Gabonese residents in Tunisia, addressing long-standing concerns about neglect. “The call for unity has resonated deeply within the community, where a sense of abandonment had previously prevailed,” he concludes, reflecting on the positive reception of these efforts.
