Gabon’s ruling party commends President Oligui Nguema’s recent initiatives
The Rally for the Homeland and Modernity (RPM), a key member of Gabon’s presidential majority, issued a formal statement on Wednesday extending its congratulations to President Brice Clotaire Oligui Nguema for his “intensive efforts in service of the nation” between August 9 and 30. The communiqué, signed by spokesperson Etienne Francky Meba Ondo, highlights the head of state’s commitment to advancing Gabon’s development.
The RPM’s statement, titled “From Action to Results,” specifically praises “groundbreaking measures in healthcare” alongside “tangible achievements, the president’s consistent field presence, and a renewed focus on provincial development.”
Healthcare funding and infrastructure upgrades take center stage
On August 30, during a visit to Makokou, President Oligui Nguema announced a 55 billion CFA francs investment in the healthcare sector. This includes:
- 44 billion CFA francs allocated to modernizing the national healthcare system
- 6 billion CFA francs for reopening dining facilities within hospital premises
- 5 billion CFA francs to enhance services under the National Health Insurance and Social Guarantee Fund (CNAMGS)
The RPM views these measures as a direct response to “pressing public concerns” and urges swift, effective implementation. The party also highlights the commissioning of new health, commercial, administrative, and defense infrastructures in Greater Libreville, as well as 17 major projects in Ogooué-Ivindo Province, unveiled during the Liberation Day celebrations in late August.
Additionally, the RPM points to the Mayiga residential housing project, which has already delivered 50 units, with 25 more under construction, and aims to develop 500 plots—a step toward decentralizing growth beyond the capital.
From promises to tangible impact: RPM’s call for accountability
The RPM echoed President Oligui Nguema’s stance that “the time for promises must give way to the time for results.” The party emphasized that the true measure of success lies in “measurable improvements in the daily lives of Gabonese citizens.”
The communiqué also welcomed the state visit of Democratic Republic of the Congo President Félix-Antoine Tshisekedi Tshilombo to Libreville, which culminated in the signing of three bilateral cooperation agreements.
RPM reaffirms support for national unity and modernization
The RPM, led by Vice President Alexandre Barro Chambrier, pledged continued backing for the administration’s initiatives—particularly in project execution, sustainable infrastructure operations, and youth employment. The party underscored its “loyalty and republican responsibility” while reiterating its commitment to national unity and the country’s modernization.
The RPM, which aligned with the coalition supporting President Oligui Nguema’s April 2025 election victory, retains its political independence, according to its leadership. The party holds three seats in the National Assembly.
