High security as Succès Masra’s trial opens in N’Djamena
The judicial proceedings involving Succès Masra have officially commenced within the Supreme Court. The hearing is taking place in a restricted courtroom under exceptionally tight security measures. A massive presence of law enforcement, including police officers, gendarmes, and members of the nomadic guard, has been stationed at key intersections and all major routes leading to the judicial building.
While the leader of the Transformateurs party is not physically present for the start of the trial, his legal defense team is actively representing him. The session began with a formal exchange between the President of the Supreme Court and Masra‘s counsel.
The atmosphere surrounding the court remains tense. Both domestic and foreign press members were instructed to vacate the premises shortly after arrival. Furthermore, the head of the CNDH (National Human Rights Commission) was blocked from entering the site by the nomadic guard commander as the trial got underway.
