Morocco-France trade partnership soars past 15 billion euros
At a high-profile gathering in Paris, France’s Minister of State for Foreign Trade and Economic Attractiveness, Nicolas Forissier, praised the Morocco-France bilateral trade partnership as a “model for Africa.” The remarks came during the opening of the France-Morocco Economic Day, an event co-organized by the Paris Île-de-France Chamber of Commerce and Industry and the Moroccan Embassy in France.
Addressing nearly 300 business leaders, investors, and policymakers, Forissier described the relationship as “exceptional,” rooted in a shared vision of equitable international trade. “Both nations believe commerce is a catalyst for progress and development, particularly for our youth. When structured fairly, it creates win-win opportunities that benefit all parties,” he emphasized.
The minister highlighted the record-breaking trade volume between the two countries, which exceeded 15 billion euros in 2025—a milestone he described as “unprecedented.” This figure marks a doubling of trade flows in less than a decade, reflecting the deepening economic ties between Morocco and France.
Forissier underscored the strategic alignment of Morocco’s industrialization and modernization efforts with France’s expanded market access for Moroccan goods. He pointed to French investments in Morocco, including a 600-million-euro commitment by aerospace giant Safran to build a new factory in Casablanca.
France remains Morocco’s top foreign investor, while Morocco stands as Africa’s leading investor in France—a complementarity Forissier believes should be further strengthened through co-investments and cross-border ventures. “Our economic partnership must prioritize not only goods and services but also human capital,” he noted, stressing the importance of skills development, mobility, and youth engagement.
The minister also spotlighted the “ambitious and shared” economic agenda outlined in the strengthened partnership framework finalized during French President Emmanuel Macron’s state visit to Morocco in October 2024, at the invitation of His Majesty King Mohammed VI.
“This partnership is built on political excellence and shared ambition,” Forissier concluded. “In an era of global uncertainty, fostering stability and collaborative relationships is essential to securing supply chains and market opportunities for our businesses.”
