Marquinhos reflects on PSG’s league defeat, eyes champions league final

Paris Saint-Germain experienced a setback in their final Ligue 1 fixture, succumbing to a 2-1 defeat against Paris FC on matchday 34. With the domestic season now concluded, the Parisian giants are entirely shifting their attention towards the eagerly anticipated Champions League final.

In their last outing of the Ligue 1 campaign, PSG faced a loss on the road to Paris FC, with the scoreline ending 2-1. Following the match, Marquinhos, the team’s captain, offered his perspective on the defeat and provided an assessment of their Ligue 1 season before discussing the upcoming Champions League final.

“We have two weeks to thoroughly prepare for our ultimate objective”

We consider the entire situation. Everything that transpires here offers lessons, especially after a loss, which presents opportunities for improvement. It’s undeniable that we didn’t perform as required. We needed to deliver a better display, particularly in the first half, where we simply weren’t playing at our usual standard. Despite that, we managed to score in the second half. But we must persist,” remarked the PSG captain in a post-match statement. “We have two weeks to thoroughly prepare for our ultimate objective. The trophy ceremony was well-executed. Given the circumstances, it was the only thing we could do. We celebrated this title, for which we worked tirelessly throughout the year. It’s a league that proves incredibly challenging to win, especially this season. We’re facing an exciting close to the season, with numerous challenges still ahead. Reaching a Champions League final is one of the pinnacle achievements in a season. Playing in a final – this marks my third here in Paris over 13 years – underscores just how difficult it is to reach this stage. It’s an exhilarating end to the season. Even with today’s loss, we will identify aspects we can enhance. I am certain our coach will be pushing us rigorously over these two weeks to ensure we improve for this crucial Champions League final.
