The Prime Minister of Senegal, Ousmane Sonko, paid a courtesy visit to the Cathedral of Our Lady of Victories in Dakar ahead of the 138th edition of the Popenguine Marian Pilgrimage.
He was warmly received by the Archbishop of Dakar, Monseigneur André Guèye, in an atmosphere of mutual respect and institutional cordiality. The meeting also included Marie Rose Faye, government spokesperson, and Béatrice Germaine Faye, a member of parliament.
Key discussions focus on national unity and social cohesion
The discussions centered on reinforcing peace, social cohesion, and interfaith dialogue, particularly ahead of the upcoming religious gathering in Popenguine. Sonko emphasized Senegal’s commitment to peaceful coexistence and tolerance, highlighting the vital role religious leaders play in maintaining national unity and stability.
In response, Monseigneur Guèye expressed his satisfaction with the meeting and offered prayers for national harmony, peace, and the success of development initiatives across the country.
