Speaking on Sunday, the minister explained the government’s stance, citing logistical and financial constraints that prevent authorities from covering the expenses of supporters for this global football spectacle.

Obstacles to fan travel

“Each nation maintains its sovereignty. For this particular edition, we are unable to finance supporters’ travel,” Minister Gaye stated, elaborating on the challenges. She further revealed difficulties encountered with previous attempts: “The list I presented included three presidents of supporters’ committees, and their applications were rejected,” alluding to the complexities of the visa process.

The minister’s declaration firmly confirmed the State’s position: “We will not be transporting supporters from Dakar to the United States.”
