Vitinha’s midfield mastery earns him champions league final man of the match

Portuguese midfielder Vitinha was crowned Man of the Match in the Champions League final, following Paris Saint-Germain’s hard-fought victory (1-1, 4-3 on penalties) which secured their historic double.

Moments after lifting the coveted trophy alongside his teammates, Vitinha stepped forward to receive his Man of the Match award. This prestigious recognition was a testament to his comprehensive performance, particularly his pivotal role in orchestrating play. He set a new record by touching the ball an astonishing 162 times throughout the match. The dynamic midfielder also demonstrated exceptional precision, successfully completing 141 out of 150 attempted passes.

The UEFA technical observers lauded his efforts, stating: « Vitinha was Paris’s standout player this evening. He commanded the midfield, especially in the second half, driving his team forward and dictating the match’s tempo. It was a truly excellent showing from him. »

The only unfortunate moment in an otherwise flawless evening was his forced substitution due to injury at half-time during extra time, in the 105th minute. The Portuguese international, who was replaced by Lucas Beraldo, appeared to be struggling with discomfort in his left leg.
