The aviation sector between Côte d’Ivoire and France reaches a significant milestone with the launch of a mutual codeshare agreement on the Paris–Abidjan route, effective from October 25, 2026.
Both airlines, Air Côte d’Ivoire and Air France, will now sell seats on each other’s flights under their own branding, providing travelers with enhanced flexibility and expanded travel options.
How the codeshare agreement transforms travel options
The new partnership allows passengers to book flights on either airline while retaining the benefits of wider flight schedules and frequencies. Specifically:
- Air France will now offer tickets under its code on flights operated by Air Côte d’Ivoire between Abidjan and Paris.
- Air Côte d’Ivoire will sell tickets under its own code for flights operated by Air France on the same route.
This arrangement means travelers can choose from more departure times and booking channels without needing to switch airlines mid-trip.
Flying Blue and sMiles integration announced
Further strengthening ties, both airlines plan to integrate their loyalty programs by the end of 2026. The collaboration aims to merge Flying Blue and sMiles, allowing members to:
- Accumulate miles on flights operated by the partner airline under their own program.
- Redeem points on both networks, including international Air France routes for sMiles members.
This alignment will enhance the travel experience for frequent flyers, offering more seamless rewards and benefits across both programs.
Strategic expansion plans for Air Côte d’Ivoire
For Air Côte d’Ivoire, the Paris–Abidjan codeshare is just the beginning. The airline intends to extend this partnership to additional Air France routes by mid-2027, leveraging the French carrier’s global network to boost its international visibility and accessibility.
The move aligns with Air Côte d’Ivoire’s long-term strategy to strengthen its presence in international markets while maintaining strong ties with its founding partner, Air France.
