The Ligue de Football Professionnel (LFP) announced it initiated legal proceedings on May 29 by filing a complaint against an unknown party. This action stems from suspicions of manipulated sports bets surrounding a yellow card issued to OGC Nice forward Elye Wahi during the final Ligue 1 matchday against Metz.

Separately, prosecutors in Marseille confirmed that a 23-year-old professional football player, active in the French Ligue 1 Championship, was taken into custody on May 29, 2026. This detention was part of an ongoing investigation led by the interregional specialized jurisdiction into alleged organized fraud, organized sports corruption, concealment, and money laundering.

Following his questioning during a period of police custody, the player was subsequently released. Authorities have stated that investigations are still actively proceeding.
