Central Africa’s trade corridors to go digital by 2030

The National Bureau of Land Freight of Chad (BNFT) has joined forces with freight authorities in Cameroon and the Central African Republic to launch a landmark digitalization pact for Central Africa’s trade corridors by 2030.

This groundbreaking agreement aims to revolutionize the movement and transit of goods across the subregion, streamlining commercial exchanges through cutting-edge digital solutions. By digitizing transit procedures, the three nations seek to build a more efficient, secure, and resilient transport system for the future.

Saleh Youssouf Erda, Director General of the BNFT, emphasized the urgency of this digital leap in today’s fast-evolving landscape. « This pact marks a bold step toward modern logistics and accelerated corridor digitalization. We’re operating in a digital-first world—this transformation will shield goods from risks while making every transaction smoother and faster, » he explained.

On the other side of the agreement, a senior official from the Central African Republic’s Ministry of Transport highlighted the collaborative spirit behind the initiative. « Months of negotiations have culminated in a system that slashes waiting times for administrative clearances while tightening security for every shipment. It’s a game-changer for reliability across our borders, » the official noted.

The pact aligns with a broader push to upgrade Central Africa’s transport corridors, fostering deeper economic ties and seamless trade flows among member states.
