Military leaders from Chad and the Central African Republic unite to enhance cross-border safety
Senior military officials from Chad and the Central African Republic are stepping up their collaborative efforts to bolster security along their shared border. A high-level working session, led by General Moubarak Abakar Nassour Hor, head of the Chad-CAR joint force, took place on May 11 to review recent joint operations and address emerging threats.
Assessing past missions and current threats
The meeting brought together key commanders from both nations who are actively involved in the joint security initiative. Discussions centered on evaluating the outcomes of Operation Al-Hamamia 1 and Operation Al-Hamamia 2, while also identifying persistent security gaps in vulnerable border areas.
Planning for future protection
In addition to reviewing past achievements, the military leadership explored innovative approaches to increase the presence of defense and security forces in high-risk zones. A bold new strategy emerged: Operation Sentinelle, proposed by the G5 Sahel task force, received official approval from General Moubarak Abakar Nassour Hor.
This upcoming mission will deploy enhanced military units supported by both fixed and mobile surveillance outposts. Its primary goals include tightening monitoring of suspicious activities, accelerating joint response times, and deepening cross-border security cooperation between Chad and the Central African Republic.
The initiative is designed to safeguard communities living along the border while providing a stronger shield against transnational threats in this critical region.
