The spokesperson for Chad’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Ibrahim Adam Mahamat, has strongly refuted over the past weekend claims alleging that N’Djamena’s government is plotting to destabilize the Central African Republic.
Chad’s diplomatic corps labeled these accusations as a deliberate smear campaign aimed at tarnishing the country’s image and straining its ties with its neighbor, the Central African Republic.
In a stern statement, the ministry condemned outright what it described as an orchestrated misinformation campaign, urging those responsible to act with accountability and media outlets along with social media users to prioritize verified facts over unfounded claims.
Chad’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs emphasized that the nation has never been, is not, and will never engage in any covert operation targeting a fellow African state. This stance underscores the country’s commitment to regional stability and mutual respect among nations.
The Head of State, Mahamat Idriss Déby Itno, has consistently upheld the principles of sovereignty, territorial integrity, and non-interference, reinforcing that Chad’s stability is intrinsically linked to that of the wider subregion, the ministry added.
Chad has frequently faced allegations—often unsubstantiated—from multiple Central and East African nations accusing it of covertly supporting various foreign armed factions. One notable example involves the Rapid Support Forces (RSF), which have been engaged in conflict with Sudan’s military since April 15, 2023.
