The Ministry of Commerce and Industry has issued an urgent order to halt all sales of four yoghurt brands in N’Djamena after routine inspections uncovered serious sanitary violations. The directive, signed by Minister Dr Guibolo Fanga Mathieu, follows a five-day quality assessment conducted by the Centre de contrôle de qualité des denrées alimentaires (CECOQDA) from June 1 to 5, 2026.
Routine sampling revealed unacceptable microbiological and physicochemical profiles, alongside critical breaches in hygiene protocols, storage conditions and safety standards. The brands identified by the Ministry are Tami yaourt, Alkhiza yaourt, Lazza yaourt and Yaourt Gamar.
In response, the government has demanded immediate market withdrawal of every batch produced by these four companies and an immediate suspension of all distribution until further notice. The Ministry is also urging each company to implement the CECOQDA’s corrective recommendations without delay to bring their products back into full compliance with national food safety regulations.
The announcement signals a broader expansion of sanitary controls across all food manufacturing and retail facilities nationwide. Authorities are reminding consumers to stay alert and report any suspicious products to local health inspectors.
