Poverty as a political weapon: electoral analyst exposes dangerous manipulation

In a recent statement, political analyst Jean Paul Ntsengue delivers a stark warning: Cameroon’s youth are being systematically impoverished and manipulated by unscrupulous figures. He condemns what he describes as “irresponsible plunderers of public wealth, corrupt politicians, and individuals driven by unchecked ambition.”

The republic’s silent crisis

Poverty, Ntsengue argues, has become a fatal danger to the nation. Those who benefit from this system—conspirators and clientelists alike—have deliberately exacerbated economic hardship, leaving countless young Cameroonians vulnerable. These desperate youth are then targeted by political operatives who dangle false promises of patronage in exchange for blind loyalty, particularly on social media platforms.

Worse still, these same figures have systematically blocked competent individuals who could have supported President Paul Biya in his governance challenges, instead promoting mediocre allies who serve their interests.

“Poverty is a fatal danger to the Republic. Those who created these conditions will find that their schemes cannot last forever.”

Ntsengue emphasizes that President Biya, destined to be remembered as the leader who brought democracy and prosperity to Cameroon, remains under divine protection. “The Almighty is never distracted,” he writes. “Restoring what has been broken will require more than fleeting protests—time will reveal all truths.” He urges unwavering support for the President during this critical phase, describing it as the “second half without extra time.”
