The Malian Armed Forces (FAMA) have declared they have reclaimed the initiative and restored stability across multiple regions targeted by offensives from armed factions operating in the country’s northern and central areas.
In a formal statement, military officials confirmed that renewed clashes persisted on Sunday near Anifif, situated in the northeastern territory approximately 110 kilometers south of Kidal, following the arrival of additional fighters and equipment dispatched to reinforce the National Movement for the Liberation of Azawad (MNLA).
According to the military communiqué, Malian troops responded with resolute determination, sustaining combat operations throughout the day with unwavering discipline and tactical precision. The statement underscored the armed forces’ unwavering confidence in their ability to safeguard national sovereignty, protect civilian populations, and decisively defeat hostile forces.
A representative for the MNLA, Mohamed Mouloud Ramadan, had previously asserted that his group maintained control over Anifif following the resumption of hostilities. He also refuted claims regarding the death of the faction’s leader, Mbarek Ag Akli, insisting that the commander remains actively engaged in directing military operations across northern Mali.
