On Thursday, May 28, 2026, Mr. Sanoussi Hassana Abdoulaye, the esteemed mayor of N’Djamena, led a significant delegation to inspect the Hilton execution site. This visit underscores the critical importance of the site’s current state in the city’s ongoing efforts to prevent devastating floods.

Addressing the delegation, Mr. Gadengar Roasna Rodrigue, Director of Urban Planning for the central municipality, highlighted the strategic role of the Hilton execution site for N’Djamena. He explained that this vital infrastructure is designed to channel rainwater efficiently towards the river. Crucially, it also acts as a safeguard, preventing river waters from inundating the city during periods of high water levels.

Mr. Rodrigue further elaborated that the structure has sustained minor damage, specifically noting the deterioration of the protective flap that guards against riverine floods. Despite this, he reassured attendees that several preliminary initiatives are already underway to prepare for the upcoming rainy season.

During the on-site inspection, Mayor Sanoussi Hassana Abdoulaye issued explicit directives to the road department. He mandated that all necessary actions be taken to ensure the swift repair of the damaged flap within the coming days, emphasizing the urgency of protecting N’Djamena from potential flood disasters.
