Ousmane Sonko has issued a stern warning, threatening to table a motion of no confidence against the government. Speaking at a recent gathering in Touba, the prominent PASTEF leader unequivocally stated that his party stands ready to deploy this parliamentary mechanism to counter practices he deems unacceptable and detrimental.
During a meeting held yesterday in Touba, as part of PASTEF’s 48-hour event, Ousmane Sonko brandished the prospect of a motion of no confidence against the administration led by Prime Minister Al Aminou Lo. The head of PASTEF made it clear that his political movement would not hesitate to invoke this parliamentary procedure should the current governmental direction persist.
“We will utilize every legal avenue at our disposal, including the motion of no confidence, to bring down the government, and as many times as necessary,” Ousmane Sonko declared to his party’s devoted militants. The president of PASTEF justified this stance by asserting that his political formation cannot condone practices that, in their view, contradict the fundamental principles for which their members have tirelessly struggled.
“We have fought for a decade, enduring immense sacrifices and losing martyrs. We will not allow such practices to take root,” he affirmed. Through this resolute statement, Ousmane Sonko firmly positions the motion of no confidence as a central instrument in his party’s political arsenal against the current government. He considers this parliamentary recourse a legitimate means to oppose decisions he disapproves of, emphasizing PASTEF’s readiness to activate it whenever circumstances demand.
