In a sweeping operation across N’Djamena, Chadian law enforcement has apprehended 29 suspects linked to a wave of criminal activities. The arrests, confirmed by the National Police Headquarters, follow coordinated raids conducted between May 15 and June 1, 2026.
Police Chief Mahamat Idriss Mahamat detailed how multiple divisions—including intelligence units, public security commissariats, central investigations, and border patrol in Ngueli—joined forces to dismantle the network. The suspects face charges ranging from arms trafficking and conspiracy to gang formation, aggravated theft, armed robberies, vehicle break-ins, and illegal entry into Chad.
Following standard interrogation procedures, the detainees were categorized into four groups based on the severity and type of offenses. Among the allegations:
- Organized crime and felony robbery: Suspects allegedly coordinated large-scale heists, including armed robberies.
- Motorcycle theft with accomplices: Several individuals were caught in the act of stealing motorcycles, often with assistance from others.
- Electronics and valuables theft: Computers, phones, gold, carpets, blankets, and aluminum were targeted in multiple burglaries.
- Vehicle break-ins: Some suspects were arrested mid-crime while looting parked cars.
All cases are being processed under regular legal protocols, with authorities vowing to pursue justice for victims of these crimes.
