Five months following its official establishment, the Cadre Permanent de Dialogue Politique (CPDP) has emerged to present its vision. During a press briefing held this Saturday, June 13, 2026, its president, Pahimi Padacké Albert, outlined the comprehensive roadmap set to guide the organization’s efforts. The primary objective is unequivocal: to rebuild trust and fundamentally cleanse Chad’s democratic landscape, a crucial step for Africa politics today.

A framework for building trust in Chad

Recalling the circumstances of its formation, Mr. Padacké Albert highlighted that the CPDP, born from the Political Accord Protocol of May 13, 2025, encompasses all legally constituted political parties across Chad. With a balanced coordination of thirty members—fifteen from the presidential majority and fifteen from the democratic opposition—the body aims to serve as the driving force behind essential political appeasement.

« Without a calm and serene political environment, without a consensual reform of the electoral system, and without an inclusive approach […], no political dialogue can sustainably restore trust, » asserted the CPDP president, emphasizing the urgency for stability in Chad’s society.

Three strategic pillars for profound reform

The roadmap, envisioned as an « operational guide, » is structured around three core objectives:

  • Electoral System Reform: This is the top priority. It involves a complete overhaul of electoral bodies, revision of the electoral code, reconsideration of National Assembly seat distribution, the method for appointing senators, as well as territorial demarcation and the status of the opposition. The overarching goal is to align electoral rules with international standards of transparency.
  • Accompanying Measures: This pillar seeks to safeguard the electoral process through the creation of a reliable electoral register and the establishment of equitable funding for political parties.
  • Cross-cutting Actions: The CPDP is committed to continuity and inclusivity, mobilizing state institutions and technical and financial partners, while maintaining ongoing dialogue with political parties that did not initially sign the protocol.

A call for citizen engagement

To realize these ambitions, Senator Padacké Albert underscored the necessity of « strong political will » at every level. He also issued a pressing appeal to the media, urging them to extensively disseminate this roadmap so that every Chadian citizen can understand and embrace the missions and actions of this vital body. This initiative is key for African society news.

The CPDP now plans to translate these objectives into a detailed action plan, complete with precise modalities and an implementation timeline. The critical question remains whether this commitment to dialogue, championed by the coordination, will succeed in dispelling recurring tensions and permanently establishing serenity within Chad’s political class.
