Côte d’Ivoire: pdci-rda urges immediate political dialogue for electoral body

Abidjan, Côte d’Ivoire – On July 7, 2026, the PDCI-RDA, through its spokesperson Brédoumy Soumaïla, firmly reiterated its consistent position regarding the establishment of a consensus-based electoral authority. Speaking from Abidjan Cocody, Soumaïla emphasized that this critical process must proceed via direct political dialogue among key stakeholders, rather than a mere informative gathering.

“The PDCI-RDA has formally requested the government to promptly open this dialogue,” Soumaïla declared during a press conference at the Party Headquarters. He underscored the importance of this approach, stating, “Our recent history teaches us that lasting peace and social cohesion cannot be achieved without thorough consultation.”

Soumaïla expressed regret that the head of government had invited political parties to an information session that lacked opportunities for genuine exchange. He deemed this method insufficient, affirming the party’s commitment to reiterating its demand for an expanded negotiation framework whenever necessary.

Furthermore, the PDCI-RDA insists on the revision of the electoral list before the close of 2026, in strict adherence to the Electoral Code. Brédoumy criticized the unexplained failure to conduct the electoral revision planned for 2025, a process that was fully funded by the state budget. “The government must provide accountability to Ivorian taxpayers regarding the management of these funds,” he asserted.

“The people are calling upon the PDCI-RDA for assistance. This aid will materialize through President Cheick Tidjane Thiam, enabling the party to reclaim state power to serve the progress of all and the welfare of every individual,” the spokesperson concluded, highlighting the party’s vision for Côte d’Ivoire’s future in this significant moment for Africa politics English.
