Abidjan hosts pivotal investor summit to accelerate Côte d’Ivoire’s economic vision
The second day of the National Development Plan (PND) 2026-2030 Consultative Group kicked off in Abidjan on July 9, 2026, at the Sofitel Hôtel Ivoire, chaired by Ivorian Prime Minister Robert Beugré Mambé. This high-profile gathering brought together over 700 international investors, signaling growing confidence in Côte d’Ivoire’s economic trajectory.
Uniting private sector leaders for shared growth
Robert Beugré Mambé opened the session with a compelling address, emphasizing the critical role of private investment in driving Côte d’Ivoire’s development agenda. « This gathering represents a pivotal moment in our collective journey toward economic transformation, » he stated. « We are thrilled to welcome more than 700 investors from friendly nations who have joined us to explore opportunities that align with our national ambition. »
The Prime Minister underscored the importance of private sector collaboration in shaping Côte d’Ivoire’s future. « Your presence here reflects the trust you place in our nation’s economic potential and growth prospects. As key partners, your investments will be instrumental in building a more competitive, job-creating economy, » he remarked. He highlighted the government’s commitment to positioning the private sector as the driving force behind this transformation.
Economic resilience and a market on the rise
Côte d’Ivoire’s recent economic performance was a central theme of the discussions. With an average growth rate of 6.5% over the past years, the country has cemented its position as one of Africa’s most dynamic economies. « This is a thriving market brimming with opportunities, » the Prime Minister affirmed. « Today’s engagements will fast-track investments in priority sectors outlined in the PND 2026-2030. »
He outlined key focus areas, including:
- Industrialization and local value addition: Transforming raw materials to boost economic value.
- Strategic infrastructure: Enhancing transport, digital connectivity, and logistics to strengthen competitiveness.
- Human capital development: Investing in innovation and essential services to foster a more productive and inclusive economy.
The Prime Minister also referenced the first day of the Consultative Group, which saw over 3,000 participants from 49 countries, including Côte d’Ivoire, convene to discuss institutional partnerships and strategic development plans.
Investor confidence remains unwavering
Leading voices from the private sector echoed the government’s optimism. Ahmed Cissé, President of the Confédération Générale des Entreprises de Côte d’Ivoire (CGECI), along with Mehdi Tazi (President of the Confédération Générale des Entreprises du Maroc), Mohamed Gouled (Vice-President of the International Finance Corporation), and a representative from the Mouvement des Entreprises de France (MEDEF), reaffirmed their commitment to Côte d’Ivoire’s development vision. They pledged substantial financial contributions to support the PND 2026-2030, emphasizing their readiness to play an active role in its implementation.
