In a significant move for regional stability, Morocco has officially signed the participation agreement for the International Stabilization Force (ISF) in Gaza, as directed by His Majesty King Mohammed VI, the Supreme Commander and Chief of Staff of the Royal Armed Forces (FAR), as well as the Chairman of the Al Qods Committee.
The landmark agreement was inked during a high-level meeting in Rabat, led by Foreign Minister Nasser Bourita and Deputy Minister for National Defense Administration Abdeltif Loudyi. The session brought together Morocco’s top military leadership alongside a delegation from the Gaza Peace Council, headed by Nickolay Mladenov, the Council’s High Representative.
Morocco’s commitment to peace and security in Gaza
According to a statement from the National Defense Administration, this participation underscores Morocco’s role as a founding member of the Gaza Peace Council, aligning with the King’s directives announced during the council’s inaugural meeting in Washington.
The Moroccan government emphasized that this initiative reflects the Kingdom’s unwavering dedication to peace, international cooperation, and solidarity. Officials also highlighted the FAR’s extensive experience in United Nations peacekeeping operations and Morocco’s long-standing commitment to fostering regional and global stability.
The Gaza Peace Council representatives commended Morocco’s proactive stance, noting the Kingdom’s contributions, which include deploying senior FAR officers to the ISF’s joint command, integrating personnel from the Royal Gendarmerie and the General Directorate for National Security (DGSN), and establishing a military field hospital.
This agreement sets the legal framework for the technical and operational aspects of Morocco’s involvement, demonstrating a shared resolve to restore peace and security in Gaza through humanitarian and security measures.
