Morocco’s Minister of Foreign Affairs, African Cooperation and Moroccan Residents Abroad Nasser Bourita conducted intensive diplomatic engagements in Amman this week, meeting with counterparts from Bahrain and Jordan on the sidelines of the Arab League summit.
These high-level discussions focused on reinforcing bilateral partnerships and addressing pressing regional security challenges that continue to shape the Arab world’s geopolitical landscape.

Bahrain partnership strengthens regional stability
During his meeting with Bahrain’s Foreign Minister Abdullatif bin Rashid Al Zayani, both diplomats emphasized the importance of coordinated efforts to maintain peace and stability across the Arab region.
The discussions explored ways to deepen Morocco-Bahrain ties, particularly in sectors identified as priorities by Rabat’s foreign policy agenda. The Moroccan delegation included Ambassador to Jordan Fouad Akhrif, Permanent Representative to the Arab League Mohamed Aït Ouali, and Director of Maghreb Affairs at the Foreign Ministry Khalid Bencheikh.
Joint commission with Jordan set to elevate bilateral relations
In a separate meeting with Jordan’s Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ayman Safadi, Bourita outlined plans for the upcoming sixth session of the Moroccan-Jordanian High Joint Commission. Scheduled for late 2026, the gathering aims to establish an ambitious agenda to transform bilateral relations into a strategic partnership.
Both ministers underscored the need to enhance political coordination mechanisms in response to the current complex geopolitical environment affecting the Middle East and North Africa.

These bilateral meetings followed Bourita’s participation in the consultative gathering of Arab foreign ministers and the 165th ordinary session of the Arab League Council, further solidifying Morocco’s influential role in shaping the region’s multilateral dialogue.
