Strengthening Morocco-France ties at rabats french national day event

The French Embassy in Rabat recently hosted a grand reception on July 14th to mark the French National Day, drawing over 1,500 attendees. Ambassador Philippe Lalliot took the opportunity to highlight the deepening bilateral partnership between Morocco and France, emphasizing shared progress across multiple sectors.

“From Rabat to Casablanca, Tanger to Marrakech, and even Laâyoune, where I recently inaugurated the first Alliance Française, we are not merely discussing the future—we are actively shaping it, day by day,” Lalliot remarked. The event was graced by Mohamed Saad Berrada, Morocco’s Minister of National Education, Preschool, and Sports, who represented the government during the celebration.

The ambassador underscored the robust collaboration between the two nations, referencing President Emmanuel Macron’s July 2024 letter to King Mohammed VI. In it, France reaffirmed its stance that the future of the Sahara aligns with Morocco’s sovereignty. “Together, our diplomatic teams champion the core principles that uphold international order and multilateral organizations,” Lalliot stated.

He also noted France’s role as Morocco’s top foreign investor and employer, with French enterprises playing a pivotal role in the country’s industrial growth for over a decade. Looking ahead, the ambassador outlined key priorities for the partnership, including tackling global challenges, boosting economic influence in strategic sectors, and fostering deeper societal ties—particularly among the youth, who represent the future of Moroccan-French relations.

Lalliot concluded by celebrating the strong human bonds between the Moroccan and French peoples, a connection further strengthened by the vibrant contributions of their respective diasporas.
